Fire at Container Terminal at Pointe Noire Autonomous Port
Based on the information received and investigations carried out with the operator Congo Terminal, it emerges the following: on May 05th 2019, Around 4 o’clock, a fire breaks out on the capacitor battery of , in the low voltage electrical room of the Power Station of the container terminal. Worker team provided alert and tried to respond with SERVTEC fire extinguishers. In view of the electrical risk, the electrical services cut off the electricity supply to the sector. Once the shutdown was completed, they extinguished the fire with the support of the two different fire departments.
The batteries in the low-voltage room capacitor melted, causing the room temperature to rise and the electrical cables to melt.
As briefly presented, the circumstances surrounding the occurrence of the declared fire in the Container Terminal resulted in considerable damage.
